About Our Company
Founded in 1921 by P.D. Worgess, the Worgess Insurance Agency relocated from Lapeer to Battle Creek in 1931 to pursue greater opportunity and long-term growth. Guided by the iconic slogan, “Let Worgess Do Your Worrying,” the agency quickly evolved from a home-based operation into a respected presence in the historic Post Building—laying the foundation for more than a century of trusted service.
The agency’s strength has been shaped by four generations of family leadership:

1st Generation: Founder P.D. Worgess

2nd Generation: Sons Russ and Don joined in 1946 following military service

3rd Generation: Doug, Bob, and Richard entered the business in the 1970s

4th Generation: Drew and Jake joined in the early 2000s
Now celebrating over 100 years of service, Worgess Insurance Agency operates from its primary downtown Battle Creek office (established in 2010) and a Kalamazoo branch (opened in 2008). By combining long-standing industry relationships with modern expertise and access to top insurance carriers, the Worgess Agency continues to deliver personalized insurance solutions for families and businesses throughout Michigan.
